how to listen to your body for natural health

Listening to your body is one of the most important skills in restoring your health. Only you can feel your body internally and this makes you the most qualified person on the planet to tell you what’s best for your body, but only if you learn how to communicate with it properly.

Unfortunately, many of us have lost connection with our body and only know the basics of body communication: hungry or not hungry, tired or not tired, thirsty or not thirsty, etc. As you cleanse your body, you’ll find you can hear its need clearer and clearer.

When your body is in reasonably healthy condition, you can communicate with your body by using the following instructions as a guide:

  1. Ask your body a specific question. (eg. would you like me to eat this meal?)
  2. Focus your awareness on your entire body, and especially the parts making sensations in response to your question.
  3. Notice the sensations coming up and use your intuition to interpret the meanings of them.

For example, if I asked my body: “Do we want to eat a tub of ice cream for breakfast?”, I would immediately feel the sensation of disgust as my stomach imagines having a pound of old frozen cream in it. Now if you think eating a pound of ice cream feels good to your body, you are not hearing your body’s true needs. You have some cleanse work to do to remove the craving voices of bacteria and parasites.

If I asked my body: “Do I want some steamed spinach with egg sautéed onion for breakfast?”, I may immediately feel a lightness and ease in my stomach (which is its ‘yes’ response). Of course, I’m typing this to you in words but your body is controlled by your subconscious mind, and so pictures and sensations will be more accurate than words. Rather than speaking to body about the food in English, picture the food going in you and see how your body responds to that image.

Again, for some of us, this will be a goal we can work towards. Don’t worry if you can’t do this yet!
